What is Hydration?
Hydration is a mathematical measurement of the fluid levels in the body. The more hydrated you are, the more efficiently you transport, filter fluids, and communicate information through out your body.
Why is Hydration Important?
- Hydration is the main solvent for vitamins and minerals
- A well-hydrated system delivers nutrients to the cells
- Delivers oxygen to the cells efficiently
- Increases blood oxygen levels
- Removes waste materials from the cells
- Helps to removes toxic material from liver and kidneys
- Critical for efficient function of energy-generating cycles
- Provides electrical energy for brain function
- Required for the synthesis of neurotransmitters
- Can reduce depression, stress and anxiety
- Can restore normal sleep cycle
- Increases the efficiency of the immune system
- Required for the production of hormones
- Can reduce PMS symptoms
- Helps to regulate ocular pressure
- Helps to regulate adhesion index of blood cells
- May reduce risk of heart attacks and strokes
- Necessary for all digestive functions
- Can prevent constipation
- Reduces the skin’s signs of aging
- Aids in weight loss
- Enhances joint flexibility and strength
- Enhances athletic performance
Without water, we would die
from internal poisoning by
our own waste products and
the toxins resulting from
metabolism. The kidneys
remove wastes such as uric
acid and lactic acid from
the body. What we may not
think about is that in order
to be removed, those wastes
must be dissolved in water.
If there isn’t enough water,
wastes are not removed as
effectively, and it may be
damaging to the kidneys.
Water lubricates our joints.
Water also is vital to
digestion and metabolism
acting as a medium for
various enzymatic and
chemical reactions in the
body. It carries nutrients
and oxygen to the cells
through the blood. Water
helps to regulate our body
temperature through
perspiration, which rids
excess heat and cools the
body. We even need water to
breath. Our lungs must be
moistened by water in order
to effectively take in of
oxygen and get rid of carbon
dioxide. We lose
approximately a pint of
liquid each day just
exhaling! Excess body fat,
poor muscle tone and size,
decreased digestive
efficiency and organ
function, energy level,
constipation, increased
toxicity in the body, joint
and muscle soreness
(particularly after a
massage), and water
retention may all be related
to a lack of water.
Some
benefits from
drinking water:
promotes maximum
health, clears
skin, aids in
weight loss,
helps maintain a
healthy weight,
helps attain
peak
performance,
alleviates
asthma,
allergies, lower
back pain,
headaches,
hypertension,
high cholesterol
levels, helps
you attain a
healthier, more
vibrant, longer
life. After a
massage drinking
water helps to
eliminate any
soreness and
helps flush the
toxins from your
body. Many good
reasons to drink
up!
